Amy Powers Joins DC ‘s Public Radio WAMU as Revenue Leader
Washington DC’s highly regarded public media station WAMU has appointed Amy Powers as the new Senior Director, Media Sponsorships, effectively immediately. In this role, she assumes responsibility for building the station’s sponsorships revenues and leading the team that partners with corporate underwriters and sponsors to support WAMU’s programming on radio, web, and digital audio platforms. Concurrently, Amy serves as the DC Market Manager for Market Enginuity, WAMU’s outsourced sponsorship sales partner firm, which employs the largest professional public media sales organization nationwide.
Powers joins the station directly from The Baltimore Sun Media Group, where she was VP, Advertising Sales accountable for revenue and ad operations for all print and digital products. She rose through sales and marketing leadership positions during a 14-year career at Tribune Publishing (now Tronc) in Chicago, Newport News VA, and most recently in Baltimore. Amy brings early sales training from Chicago’s commercial radio industry, and holds undergraduate and MBA degrees from Northern Illinois University.
